Rich Stewart will retire as Eatonville School District's superintendent at the end of the current school year. Stewart formally told the School Board of his plans at its meeting Wednesday. His resignation will take effect June 30. Stewart, 64, said he wants to spend more time with his family and isn't stepping down because of any dissatisfaction. "I love this place, and I love the work,GÇ¥ he said. The board hired Stewart in 2010. Last year, board members gave him a glowing performance review after his first full year on the job and also, at his request, added a year to his original three-year contract. That would have kept him under contract until August 2014. "It's going to be hard to see him leave. He's done very well for this district,GÇ¥ board president Bob Homan said Friday. The district has hired a search firm to help attract and screen candidates to replace Stewart.
