Halloween was last week, but the spookiness continues this week for Eatonville High School's student production of "Night Chills, Tales of Terror.GÇ¥ Adapted from the gothic tales of the legendary Edgar Allan Poe, the performances this Friday, Saturday and Sunday are expected to send shivers down the spines of audiences in the school's auditorium. "It's not all that scary compared to more modern stuff. But for people who are familiar with Poe's style, it's kind of eerie and definitely on the creepy side,GÇ¥ said Bethany Padgett, one of the actors. "Nothing gory, but it might be a little suspenseful for younger children,GÇ¥ said Dawn Elms, the Drama Club director. The five stories, narrated by Kenny Johnson as Poe and being brought to life by a cast of 27 and 10 crew members, are "The Purloined Letter,GÇ¥ "The Murders at Rue Morgue,GÇ¥ "The Cask of Amontillado,GÇ¥ "The Fall of the House of UsherGÇ¥ and "The Tell-Tale Heart.GÇ¥ The adaptations are by Billy St. John and will run a combined two hours and 15 minutes in shows at 7 p.m. Nov. 8-9 and 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 10. Padgett, who plays a "bratty little teenage girlGÇ¥ who comes to a bad end in "Rue Morgue,GÇ¥ said she and her castmates are enjoying the dark side of Poe's storytelling. "I like stuff that's a little creepy and off the wall, I've never had a role like this before," said Padgett, a junior who's been acting in student productions since she was a freshman. Tickets ($7 for adults $7, $5 for students and seniors) can be bought in advance in the school's main office or can be purchased at the auditorium door on showdays.
