Ballots for the general election have been mailed to Pierce County voters. Now it's up to them if there's at least a 46 percent voter turnout, as projected by the county auditor. The elections department overseen by Auditor Julie Anderson put ballots in the mail Oct. 18 to 438,344 registered voters. Of those, she predicts approximately 202,000 will mail them back or deposit them in official dropboxes by the Nov. 5 election day, the cutoff of voting. To have their votes count, voters must have their ballots postmarked no later than Nov. 5 or put them in auditor-designated dropboxes around the county by 8 p.m. that day. The locations of dropboxes are available from the elections department at piercecountywa.org/elections or 253-798-8683. The latter is the same number registered voters should call if they don't receive a ballot, officials said. (Read more in the Oct. 23 print edition of The Dispatch)
