Fiery murder unsolved; police ask for help

Authorities trying to solve the murder of a man in Spanaway have renewed their effort by asking for the public's help. According to the Pierce County Sheriff Department, Daniel Dunn, 46, was intentionally set on fire March 12 near a medical building in the 15000 block of Pacific Ave. S. Witnesses saw him covered in flames at about 9:30 p.m. and helped put out the fire. Dunn suffered severe burns and died from his injuries on May 25.-á Sheriff detectives are investigating the case as a homicide. They said Dunn was a transient and lived in homeless encampments in the Spanaway area.-á A $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and charges in the case is being offered through Tacoma-Pierce County Crimestoppers. Tips can be telephoned to 1-800-222-TIPS. Detectives hope to learn about suspicious persons seen with the victim or in the area at the time of the fire, as well as possible motives.
