By Pat Jenkins The Dispatch A fire caused by barbecuing destroyed part of a family's home but also ended on a happy note for their dog. The incident started in the early evening July 19 when a barbecue grill malfunctioned, setting fire to an exterior wall on the back of the two-story house on 165th Street Court East in the Graham-South Hill area. Flames had traveled up to the attic when firefighters arrived. As they were battling the blaze, firefighters were checking rooms when they flipped over a bed and found a dog "curled up and hiding,GÇ¥ said Steve Richards, an assistant chief for Graham Fire and Rescue. The dog, covered in soot, was taken outside and given oxygen by firefighters to help revive it from the effects of the smoke and later was reported in good condition. None of the four family members, all of whom were home at the time, were injured in the fire. The house was heavily damaged, however, and they were given temporary shelter by the Red Cross.
