Five members of the same Boy Scouts troop arrived at the same ultimate destination this month when they were awarded Eagle Scout status. The highest rank in Scouting, which fewer than 4 percent of all Boy Scouts reach, was achieved by Troop 604's Christian Buchignani, Eli Olson, Ryan Collins, Daniel Buchignani and Robert Porter. Their formal induction was held May 12. Eagle Scouts have mastered numerous Scouting skills and earned 21 merit badges, of which 12 are required. They also have performed extensive community service and held leadership positions in their troop. The final qualification is to plan, organize and supervise a service project that benefits an organization. Here's what the five new Eatonville-area Eagle Scouts did for their projects: " Collins, 18, landscaped the front of the Eatonville Baptist Church sign, poured cement for a barbecue picnic area, and added sidewalks around the church. " Porter, 17, went to Sierra Leone in Africa on a clean-water mission that included building a well. " Christian Buchignani, 14, organized a food drive and built storage for the Eatonville food bank. " Olson, 17, made and installed directional sighs for trails on state Department of Natural Resources land near Ashford. " Daniel Buchignani, 16, built two foot bridges and clearned trails at the Salvation Army's Camp Arnold. Troop 604 is sponsored by the Eatonville Lions Club.
