Free concert promotes school and contest

Rocky Ridge Elementary School's staff and students invite the community to join them for a special free concert this Saturday featuring Emily Randolph of Eatonville and Jason Kertson, past stars of "The Voice," the NBC-TV music talent show.-á-á The concert is set for Nov. 1 at Graham-Kapowsin High School. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the performances start at 6.-áThe focus of the concert is to get more votes for Rocky Ridge teacher Elissa Dornan, one of 15 national finalists in the Farmers Insurance Dream Big Teacher Challenge. Randolph and Kertson, who also-áhails from Pierce County, appeared on season 5 of "The Voice." Dornan's proposal to "rock the RidgeGÇ¥ with digital learning tools is the only Washington entry in the $100,000 Dream Big contest. Rocky Ridge is competing with two other schools in Idaho and Montana.-áThe school with the most votes when the contest ends on Nov. 30 will win.
