Jamaal Jones, who arrived at the University of Montana three years ago as a former standout high school football player from Graham-Kapowsin and became an All-Big Sky Conference wide receiver, added another kudo by being named the Grizzlies' Most Valuable Player on offense for 2015. The award was announced at the conclusion of Jones' senior season, in which Montana reached the second round of the NCAA playoffs. One of two team captains, he had the fifth-best receiving season in Montana's football history, catching passes for 1,207 yards in 13 games. Jones shared his team's MVP award for 2015 with defensive end Tyrone Holmes, who was the defense recipient. Jones was also chosen as the recipient of the Terry Dillon Award for outstanding back or receiver. The award was established in 1964 following the accidental death of Dillon, a Montana player. A former all-league receiver at Graham-Kapowsin, Jones' exploits with Montana this year included several multiple-touchdown game. Highlights included four catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns GÇô one of them covering 74 yards GÇô to help the Grizzlies thump North Dakota 42-16 Oct. 24, and nine grabs, three touchdown and 132 yards Nov. 21 in a 54-35 victory over Montana State. Pro football could be next for Jones. According to Montana's sports information department, National Football League scouts are interested in Jones in advance of next year's draft of college players.
