Federal Way, taking its high-scoring offense to another level, defeeated Graham-Kapowsin 62-28 Thursday in a showdown between two undefeated South Puget Sound League 4A high school football teams.
Chico McClatcher ran a punt back 73 yards for one touchdown and hooked up with quarterback Evan Elliott on a 56-yard pass play for another as Federal Way, now 3-0, got off to a quick start with three touchdowns in the first quarter.
Graham-Kapowsin kept pace in the opening period with touchdowns by Teague James on a 44-yard run and Kahlil Dawson on a 66-yard romp, but fell behind for good when the host Eagles scored three more touchdowns in the second quarter GÇô two of them on runs of 30 yards and 16 yards by Zeek McNeal.
Federal Way led 41-28 at halftime, then held the Eagles scoreless in the second half, leaving G-K 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the SPSL.
James finished the game with three touchdowns, including two in the second quarter on runs of two and 19 yards.
Federal Way has scored at least 41 points in all three of its games this season, for an average of nearly 47 points an outing. The Eagles' margin of victory has averaged 32 points.
