Hatton, Moose among top state track finishers

Lucas Hatton finished second in two events and teammate Logan Moose placed in the top five in two others to pace Eatonville High School in the state 1A track and field championships last weekend in Cheney. Hatton, as he did throughout the 2013 season, produced standout performances in the shot put and discus in his final high school competition. The senior's runnerup efforts were 54 feet 8 inches and 161 feet 9 inches, respectively. Moose, a freshman, was fourth in the high jump at 6 feet and tied for fifth in the long jump at 20 feet 2 inches. Hatton and Moose led Eatonville to a fifth-place finish in the boys' portion of the meet held at Eastern Washington University. On the girls' side, Eatonville's top finishes were by Daisey Newman, who placed fifth in the discus (111 feet 1 inch) and sixth in the shot put (36 feet 10 inches), and the 4x100 relay team, which placed fifth in a school-record 51.12 seconds. Madison Tobin, Brailee Vandenboom, Alexa Graddy and Machaela Graddy were the relayers. In the class 4A state championships at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma, Bethel had a second-place finish in the girls' 4x100 relay by Erica Hamlin,Katreeona Williams-Mac, Kiana Chandler and sophomre Meosha Mack. Graham-Kapowsin's best finish was seventh by Kyle Madsen in the boys' shot put. (Read more in the June 5 print edition of The Dispatch)
