League looking up at Eatonville

Eatonville High enters this week's Evergreen League track and field championships after dominating Evergreen foes during the regular season. The league bash in Hoquiam Friday is the start of post-season competition that for top performers could eventually include entries in the district and state meets. The Evergreen's regular season ended May 6 with Eatonville hosting Aberdeen, Montesano and Elma and beating all three in boys' and girls' competition to cap an undefeated season. It marked the third consecutive year for the boys' team and the second straight for the girls of beating all comers in league dual meets and tri-meets. In the finale, Logan Moose tied Eatonville's school record in the long jump with an effort of 21 feet 7.5 inches. Derrick Clemens previously held the record alone since 1987. Moose also won the high jump at 6 feet, giving the Cruisers three two-event winners. The others were Josehia Hotz in the 200 (22.86 seconds) and the 400 (53.26) and Justin Kaelin in the shot put Justin (56 feet 6.5 inches) and the discus (158 feet). Also winning two individual events for Eatonville was Mia Snyder in the girls' hurdles races. She took the 100 hurdles in 17.62 and the 300 hurdles in 50.62. Other Eatonville winners included: " For the boys, Isaac Boettcher in the 800 (2:06.52), Ryan Donohue in the 100 hurdles (17.55), Zarak Scuggs in the triple jump (40-4), and the 4x400 relay team of George Tomal, Josehia Hotz, Mason Call and Isaac Boettcher (3:39.53). " For the girls, Brailee VandenBoom in the 100 (13.02), 1600 Emily Padgett in the 1,600 (5:57.00), 3200 Isabelle Snyder in the 3,200 (12:38.38), Daisey Newman in the javelin (116 feet), Madeline Madison in the pole vault (8 feet), the 4x100 relay (Alexa Graddy, Natasha Henley VandenBoom and Madison Tobin in 52.83) and the 4x400 relay (Madison, Padgett, Tobin and Vuksich in 4:42.41).
