Marcus Pruitt

Marcus Neil Pruitt of Eatonville, Wash., born Aug. 28, 1944 in Seattle, Wash., passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2013. Marcus expressed his lifelong love for baseball by building his own Field of Dreams where family and friends have gathered for over 20 years. Marcus was an active member of Olympia Ski Club and a key organizer of the Pierce County Men's Baseball League. A National Board Certified Teacher, he taught for Oakville, Eatonville and Tacoma Public Schools. Marcus was preceded in death by: father Robert T. Pruitt; mother Meryl G. Pruitt; sister Danelle Pruitt; nephews Adam Pruitt, Darrin Wiemer and Tony J. Pruitt. He is survived by siblings Freeman Pruitt (Jean Pruitt), Tim Pruitt, Wes Pruitt (Pat Pruitt), Steve Pruitt, Val Sivertson (Mark Sivertson) and Merri McBride (Doug McBride); as well as nephews and nieces Rod Pruitt, Danette Weyn, Todd Wiemer, Diana Root, Brian Wiemer, Michael Pruitt, Spencer Pruitt, Cameron Pruitt, Aaron Pruitt, Drew Pruitt, Rosalea Pruitt, Kara Harris, Eric Sivertson, Zarin McBride and Haley McBride. He is also survived by numerous nieces/nephewsGÇôin-law and great nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned for July 6 at 2 p.m. at Marcus' baseball field (quarter of a mile from Pioneer Farm on Ohop Valley Road East), followed by a celebration of Marcus' life at Ohop Grange, 41608 Mountain Hwy. E., Eatonville. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marcus Pruitt Memorial Field Maintenance Fund at Key Bank.
