Newspapers should host congressional debate

Six candidates have filed for U.S. House of Representative, 8th District of Washington GÇô Dave Reichert, Santiago Ramos, Keith Arnold, Tony Ventrella, Margaret Walsh (myself), and Alida Skold. I have suggested a six-candidate debate, hosted by the editors of the 8th District newspapers. Eatonville, Auburn, Black Diamond, Chelan, Covington, Ellensburg, Enumclaw, Issaquah, Leavenworth, Maple Valley, North Kittitas County, Sammanish and Snoqualmie all have local papers and local editors who know the questions that their 8th District readers would like to ask the candidates. June 27, 28, 29 and 30 are House "work in the districtGÇ¥ days, when the incumbent might be home in the district, available for a live debate. July 4 is the last day to update voters' registration online, and new voters have until July 25 to register. No political party affiliation is required to vote in the primary election on Aug. 2. In this era, engaged as we are, in the ages-old divide and conquer rule by tyrants, bipartisan commands have hijacked our ballots. Not everyone will concede to their demands. Six candidates are at the starting gate. Thank you for welcoming a six-candidate debate. Margaret M. Walsh (Editor: Margaret Walsh is running as a We R Independent Party candidate. She lives in Ellensburg).
