A 79-year-old Spanaway woman escaped injury in a three-vehicle accident Monday on Interstate 5 in Tacoma that sent one motorist to the hospital. The State Patrol reported that the accident occurred when a car driven by an 86-year-old woman from University Place struck a car that the Spanaway woman was driving, causing her vehicle to collide with another one. The crashes occurred in the freeway's southbound lanes near the city center exit. A passenger in one of the cars was taken by an aid car to a Tacoma hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
