Visitors to Mount Rainier National Park will be admitted to the park free during the three-day Presidents Day holiday weekend Feb. 15-17. More waivers of normal admission fees are scheduled for April 19-20 (National Park Week), Aug. 25 (National Park Service's anniversary), Sept. 27 (Public Lands Day) and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day). This weekend, activities available to park visitors include ranger-guided snowshoe walks. The walks cover approximately 1.5 miles in two hours and are limited to 25 people, 8 years old or older, on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is at the Henry M. Jackson Visitor Center at Paradise beginning one hour before the start times 11:15 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Participants who don't have snow shoes can rent a pair for a $5 donation from the park.
