Park admission is free for MLK Day

Mount Rainier National Park will admit visitors free of charge on Jan. 19 in recognition of the national Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.-á All vehicle admission fees will be waived on that day. Park officials also noted that the Nisqually (southwest) entrance on State Route 706 near Ashford is the only park entrance that's open this time of year, and that all visitors must be carrying tire chains in their vehicle in case they're needed. More fee waiver days are scheduled this year, starting next month with Feb. 14-16 for the Presidents Day Weekend. Also coming up are: " April 18-19, first weekend of National Park Week. " Aug. 25, National Park Service's anniversary. irthday " Sept. 26, National Public Lands Day. " Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
