Park fee is on state

The 103rd birthday of Washington State Parks will be observed March 19 with free park admission for all. Such "free daysGÇ¥ are in keeping with state legislation that created the park system's Discover Pass. The annual pass costs $30; single-day entry permits are $10 for parks and land managed by the state's Fish and Wildlife and Natural Resources departments. The Legislature ordered 12 free days when the pass wouldn't be required at parks. The other free days and their coinciding observances this year are scheduled for April 22 (Earth Day), May 8, June 4 (National Trails Day), June 11 (National Get Outdoors Day), Aug. 25 (National Park Service's 100th anniversary), Sept. 24 (National Public Lands Day), and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day). Many of the dates also will be recognized with free admission at Mount Rainier National Park.
