Prep football: Home openers for G-K and Bethel, old rival for Eatonville

Jefferson at Graham-Kapowsin, Sept. 10, 7 p.m. Scouting report: Friday night lights switch to Thursday for Graham-Kapowsin's first home game of the season. The opponent at Art Crate Field is from the South Puget Sound League's Northeast Division; G-K is part of the South Division. Both teams opened their seasons last week in non-league games that were played after The Dispatch went to press with an early deadline for Labor Day. The Eagles, considered by pre-season prognosticators as one of the state's top 4A teams, are coming off last year's 11-2 record (including a 35-14 victory over Jefferson) and a semifinalist showing in the state tournament.
Eatonville at Wright, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. Scouting report: These schools once were rivals in the Nisqually League. Now they're non-league foes following Eatonville's move last year to the 1A Evergreen League. They faced off in the 2014 regular season and Eatonville had the upper hand in a big way, winning 56-6. Wright recovered from that rout enough to reach the state tournament, but the Cruisers blew them out again 72-34 in the first round. Eatonville opened its 2015 campaign last week at Orting. Results were unavailable for this week's print edition of The Dispatch because of an early press schedule for the Labor Day holiday. .
Mount Rainier at Bethel, Sept. 11, 7 p.m. Scouting report: Art Crate Field will welcome Bethel for its home debut of the 2015 season. The Braves were at Kentridge last week to launch the campaign. Because of an early press deadline for the Labor Day holiday, results were unavailable for this week's print edition of The Dispatch but are available in the online edition at dispatchnews.com. For the second straight week, Bethel is facing a 4A South Puget Sound League member from outside its division. The Braves are in the South Division, while Mount Rainier is from the Northwest. Bethel beat the Rams 19-7 when they met last year.
