More than 40 films spanning a variety of topics and genres will be screened during the Rainier Independent Film Festival May 13-15 in Ashford. Back for its 10th year, the festival is known among filmmakers and attendees as a personable weekend where viewers watch new movies withinternational, national and regional pedigrees, talk with filmmakers and attend workshops, organizers said. Among the featured filmmakers are Gary Lundgren, whose "Calvin MarshallGÇ¥ won Best Audience Award in 2010. He's back with a futuristic thriller, "Black Road,GÇ¥ that will be playing Sunday. The opening night includes a short film with scenery from the Pacific Northwest, "Muir Song,GÇ¥ followed by the character-driven feature "The Great & The Small,GÇ¥ with actor Melanie Lynskey and director Dusty Bias in attendance.
