I want to thank the Flamingo Red Hatters for a decade of fund-raising for the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life event in Eatonville. These women, whose average age is somewhat older than most relay participants, have raised over $50,000 since becoming a team 11 years ago. As a team, we've had bake sales, garage sales, music festivals and tea parties, not to mention a few of our favorites - our unique flock of flamingos that "flyGÇ¥ from yard to yard raising cancer awareness and thousands of dollars. . We have been cowgirls, calendar girls and dwarves. We have performed in above-ground synchronized swimming and stayed up all night trying to win "spirit bucks.GÇ¥ We've had painting and planting parties. The list goes on and on. In short, thanks to all the Flamingo Red Hatters who help put Eatonville on the Relay map. I encourage anyone who hasn't yet done so to join a team, start a team, or just donate to the many fund-raisers around town. Christine Blackett
