Robert Wayne Thurston Jr.

Born May 17, 1942, passed away December 24, 2013 at his home in Barra De Navidad, Mexico. Beloved father, brother, and friend. Brother Dick Thurston of Puyallup, WA and sister Susan Costlow of Tacoma, WA; three children, Elisa Fruzzetti, Kim Bridges, and Robert Wayne Thurston III; grandchildren Cory, Kyle, Dalyn, Abigail, and Shelby. Attended St. Pats, Bellarmine, Stadium, and he was a football star. He started working at Frisko Freeze as a teenager, and worked as a chef at several fine restaurants. Worked for Pierce County road crew, was secretary/treasurer for Teamsters Local 313, owner and operator of the Flying Boots in Tacoma, established Mt. Rainier Railroad Dining Company in 1987 in Elbe, WA. Retired in 2002 and lived his life out in Barra De Navidad, Mexico. He loved the people and the country. He was a big man with a big smile. Celebration of Life, 1 p.m. sharp Saturday, February 1 at the Mt. Rainier Railroad Dining Company in Elbe.
