Schools registering new kindergarteners

Kindergarten registration for the 2014-15 school year will begin next week in the Eatonville School District and already is underway in the Bethel School District. Eatonville schools, which offer all-day kindergarten, will start registering new students on April 7 for the school year that will open in September. Registration requires proof of students' age. They must be 5 years old by Aug. 31, 2014 before they can enter kindergarten. Proof of required immunizations is also required at the time of registration, district officials said. Additional information is available at the district's three elementary schools GÇô Eatonville (360-879-1600), Weyerhaeuser (360-879-1650) and Columbia Crest (360-569-2567). Kindergarten registration in the Bethel district began March 24. Free full-day kindergarten is offered for children who will reach the age of 5 on or before Aug. 31, 2014. Parents are required to submit a certification of the child's birth date and a complete certificate of immunization status at the time of registration. Information is available at 253-683-6014 and bethelsd.org/welcome/registration.
