Spanaway Lake douses Braves

Bethel's high school football season has been hot and cold. The Braves, who won their first five games, are now losers of three straight after a 21-14 setback against Spanaway Lake last Friday. Despite dropping from their early-season status as contenders in the South Puget Sound League 4A, the Braves are assured a non-losing record in 2014 - a dramatic turnaround from last year's 2-7 mark. They'll face their other cross-district colleague, Graham-Kapowsin (7-1), this Friday at Art Crate Field in the regular-season finale for both schools. Spanaway Lake, riding a two-game winning streak, will host SPSL South division champion Emerald Ridge Thursday at 7 p.m. at Art Crate Field.
