Students learned via candidate forum

The members of the student planning committee greatly appreciated the opportunity given to them by Eatonville School District superintendent Krestin Bahr, the School Board, and the Eatonvlle High School administration. The members would like to give our collective thanks to the candidates for state representative, for taking the time out of their schedules to come to EHS and allow the public to learn their opinions on vital state and local issues. We would also like to thank the community members who came and expressed their valuable opinions and concerns regarding education and other issues. As a group, we learned valuable lessons on event planning and management. We recognize that the information and opinions expressed will be valuable to us in the future as we begin to directly influence public policy by voting. And the many other ways that Americans can influence their government and the people who represent them within it. Overall, the forum was a very enjoyable and educational experience that we are all honored to have been a part of. We hope that this event will lead to future student involvement and interest in the political processes and policies that affect us as students and as citizens. Eli Loftis Committee member
