Practice for the 2012 high school football season officially begins today.
The Eatonville Cruisers are among the teams locally getting back on the gridiron. Eatonville will be in a new league (the Nisqually) and a new classification (A) this season, which opens with an away contest against Orting Aug. 31.
Also dusting off the helmets are Graham-Kapowsin and Bethel high schools, as they gear up for another South Puget Sound League 4A campaign.
Meanwhile, other fall sports are close to the start of their 2012 seasons, too. Practices begin next week for the girls soccer, volleyball, boys tennis and girls swimming and diving teams at Eatonville. Ditto for Bethel and Graham-Kapowsn student-athletes in all of those sports, as well as golf and cross country. Most of the teams will see their first action against other schools in the first or second week of September.
