Prep football warming up

High school football teams begin their formal pre-season practices on Wednesday in preparation for season-opening games that are barely two weeks away. At Eatonville, where the Cruisers are coming off a run to the semifinals of last year's state 1A tournament, the 2015 season-opener will be at Orting on Sept. 4. For Eatonville, it will be a non-league tuneup before the Evergreen League campaign. The Cruisers are the Evergreen's defending champions. Graham-Kapowsin's Eagles, who reached the semifinals of the 4A state tourney in 2014 and finished second in the South Puget Sound League's South division during the regular season, will visit Kentlake Sept. 4 for their first action this year. Bethel, hoping to build on its appearance in last year's 4A tournament with another post-season run, will be at Kentridge in a season-opener Sept. 3. Spanaway Lake will host Decatur Sept. 4 in the first football game at the Bethel School District's Art Crate Field since it received a new turf field and other improvements over the summer.
