Weather shuts down Fantasy Lights

Due to predictions of more strong wind and stormy conditions, Pierce County Parks and Recreation is closing its Fantasy Lights display Thursday for a second consecutive night. The closure of the outdoor, drive-through exhibit at Spanaway Park is in the interest of safety, a Parks and Recreation spokeswoman said. Fantasy Lights also was dark Wednesday night. The closures have prompted the addition of three more half-priced nights of showings to make up for the unforeseen closures. Barring any more weather-related concerns, visitors will be admitted for $7 per car (buses not included) instead of the regular $14 from Dec. 15 to Dec. 17. The scheduled hours for all nights are 5:30 to 9 p.m. through Jan. 1. Parks officials said information on the status of Fantasy Lights will be updated at www.facebook/com/PierceCountyParks.Recreation and www.piercecountywa.org/fantasylights.
