Pierce County Parks and Recreation is the host of a two-hour workshop on the basics of backpacking scheduled for Feb. 29 at Frontier Park in Graham. From 7 to 9 p.m. for a fee of $4 per person, participants can learn about equipment, food, maps and recommended trails. The workshop will be held in the park's lodge. The park is at 21718 Meridian E.
