Accident hospitalizes deputy assigned to Bethel schools

David Rose, a Pierce County Sheriff Department deputy who serves as a resource officer for the Bethel School District, is recovering in a hospital from a concussion and broken bones he suffered in a traffic accident last week while on duty.

"We are hopeful that he will make a full recovery, and we're incredibly thankful considering the severity of the collision and the injuries he suffered," said Lauren Wallin, a department spokeswoman.

Details about the accident weren't provided, but the accident reportedly involved a pickup truck that struck a patrol vehicle driven by Rose in the Parkland area.

Rose, 34, has been a patrol deputy since 2015. He previously was a corrections officer in the county jail, starting in 2008. Wallin said Rose, his family and the Sheriff Department appreciate the public's "notes of support and well wishes" since the accident.
