Sunny Thompson has been named to Nisqually Land Trust’s Board of Directors, putting her in a position to help safeguard wilderness such as the Ashford surroundings she has called home for 40 years.
For most of that time, she has been proprietor of Wellspring Spa in Ashford, where she also lives. The avid hiker and skier has been a member of the Nisqually River Council Citizens Advisory Committee, and her business was a founding member of the council, an organization that works on issues involving the river and surrounding areas.
The Land Trust acquires and manages land as part of an effort to preserve the water and wildlife within the Nisqually River watershed.
In her new role with the board, Thompson replaces Mary Foster, a former longtime member.
