Pierce County Auditor Julie Anderson has scheduled a special filing period in an attempt to find candidates for open offices in this fall’s election that so far have drawn no interest.
During the official filing period of May 15-19, no candidates registered for 28 offices scattered throughout the county. In south Pierce County, they include mayor and three City Council seats in Roy, three openings apiece for Elbe Water District Commissioner and Kapowsin Water District Commissioner, and one seat for Clear Lake Water District Commissioner.
A three-day filing period of July 10-12 will open at 8:30 a.m. the first day. Candidates can sign up online at piercecountyelections.org or in person at the county election center at 2501 S. 35th St.
