Eatonville High School's fastpitch team is ready for its 2017 post-season debut.
The West Central District playoffs will be staged May 19-20 at Sprinker Recreation Center in Spanaway, and the Cruisers are a top contender. By virtue of their seeding as the second-place team from the South Puget Sound League, they can clinch a spot in the 2A state regionals with a win in the first round of the WCD tourney.
With an opening-round bye because of their high seeding, Eatonville is awaiting the outcome of a first-rounder between Sequim and Fife. The winner of that will meet the Cruisers at 4:15 p.m.
A defeat for the Cruisers won’t end their chances of reaching the regionals. They can still do itby winning the rest of their games in the double-elimination districts.
Eatonville concluded its regular season May 12 with a 7-1 victory over Fife for a record of 12-3 in the South Puget Sound League’s Sound Division. The Cruisers are 14-4 overall.
