High-speed crash takes life of driver

Speed may have contributed to a fatal one-vehicle crash in Graham, authorities reported.

The crash occurred Oct. 28 at about 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of 304th Street East and Webster Road East. According to the Pierce County Sheriff Department, witnesses said the sports utility vehicle was traveling at a high speed when it clipped another automobile, flipped and struck a utility pole.

Deputies said the speedometer on the SUV was stuck on 80.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, was in an ambulance on the way to a hospital when he died from his injuries. His name wasn’t released.

No other injuries were reported.
