Graham-Kapowsin’s high-scoring offense and Woodinville’s stingy defense have gotten the teams to where they’ll be this Saturday – on the home turf of G-K for a quarterfinals showdown in the state 4A high school football tournament.
In the first round of the tournament last weekend, Graham-Kapowsin did again what it’s done all season – score a lot of points. And most of them were needed for the Eagles to top Lake Stevens 38-31 Nov. 11.
So now the Eagles, on their own Art Crate Field, will face undefeated Woodinville, which in typical fashion crushed Kentwood 48-7 in the first round last week.
This is the second straight year that Woodinville has reached the quarterfinals of the state tourney. The last time G-K made it this far was in 2015 before being knocked out. Last season, the Eagles lost in the first round to Camas, the eventual champion.
