Cruisers, Eagles and Braves win football openers

All three south Pierce County high schools opened their 2017 football seasons with victories last Friday – two of them in blowouts and one in a squeaker.

Eatonville trounced Elma 55-7, giving Gavin Kralik a successful debut in his first game as the Cruisers’ coach.

Graham-Kapowsin overwhelmed South Kitsap 56-0 to start the 4A South Puget Sound League campaign.

And in an outcome that was much closer, Bethel outlasted Yelm 36-33.

All three local teams are back in action this week. Bethel will host North Thurston on Sept. 7. The next day, Eatonville will be at Highline and Graham-Kapowsin will host Curtis.
