High school football kicks off

The first games of the 2014 high school football season are Thursday and Friday. For fans of Eatonville, Graham-Kapowsin and Bethel, here's a preview of their teams:
Eatonville
" First game Sept. 5, at home against Orting, 7 p.m. Old arch-rivals meet in a non-league season-opener for both. " Last season Eatonville posted a 7-3 record and reached the post-season district playoffs, where the Cruisers lost to King's 30-12, falling one win short of the 1A state tournament. " This season Cruisers are in a new league, the Evergreen. There will be some long drives to away games, including Rochester, Elma, Aberdeen and Hoquiam. Graham-Kapowsin
" First game Sept. 4 against Kentlake, 7 p.m. Kentlake's from the North division of the 4A South Puget Sound League, Graham-Kapowsin's in the South division. " Last season Graham-Kapowsin won its first-ever division title in the SPSL, going undefeated until a 52-28 loss to Bothell in the 4A state tournament ended the Eagles' season. Final record: 10-1. " This season The Eagles are ranked in the state's top 10 in one pre-season poll. They won't have high-octane running back Teague James, who has graduated. Four of first six games are on the road. Bethel
" First game Sept. 5 at home against Kentridge, 7 p.m. Kentlake is from the Covington area and is a member of the North division of the 4A South Puget Sound League, Bethel's in the South division of the SPSL. " Last season The Braves finished with a 2-7 record (2-6 against SPSL South division teams). Bethel opened with a 28-20 win over cross-district rival Spanaway Lake. Other win came in week 5, 28-21 against Emerald Ridge. " This season Schedulemaker favored them with four games at home in the first six weeks. Not so favorable GÇô last three games are on the road.
