Cruiser men go 1-1 for the week

After downing Rochester and Elma in their opening games, the Cruisers traveled to Steilacoom to take on the Sentinels.

The Cruisers struggled by the Sentinel full court press they used all game. Eatonville kept things close at the start of the game and only trailed 8 - 6 at the end of the first quarter. The Sentinel defense started to stymie the Cruisers in the second quarter as they began to pull away to take a 23 - 16 lead into the half. One bright spot for the Cruisers was Kekoa Visperas’ 5 points and Tristan Schoepf’s eight rebounds.

The Sentinels lead by as many as 14 points in the second half as the Cruisers tried to clip into their lead. The Cruisers pulled within 7 points in the second half, but couldn’t chip away into the lead any further and eventually fell 51 - 40 to the Sentinels.

Visperas lead the Cruisers with 22 points and Schoepf pulled of the double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

On Friday, Dec. 7, the Cruisers traveled to rival Orting to take on the Cardinals.

The Cruisers took the lead early and never looked back. Led by sophomore Kekoa Visperas’ 20 points, the Cruisers opened up a 12 point lead by halftime and extend that to 15 by the end of the third quarter. The Cruisers finished the game up by 20 to down the Cardinals 60 - 40 to improve their overall record to 3-1 on the season.

Next up for the Cruisers will travel to White River to take on the Hornets on Tuesday, Dec. 11, followed by hosting the Franklin Pierce Cardinals on Friday, Dec. 14, to close out the week. Tip-off time for both games will be 5:15 p.m.
