Local artists and craft masters have created empty bowls that are full of potential in hopes of helping local Pierce County residents in need.
The bowls are part of this year’s Empty Bowls event, organized by the Emergency Food Network. Each year more than 1,000 handcraft bowls are placed for sale for over 500 event goers to shop.
Local potters, woodworkers and glassblowers, according to an Emergency Food Network press release, create the bowls. All the proceeds made from bowl sales goes to the Emergency Food Network. Shoppers will receive free soup served by Café Pacific Catering, Chambers Bay Grill, Happy Belly, Indo Asian Street Eater, Infinite Soups, Pacific Grill, Spring Lake Café’, Stanley and Seaforts, The Swiss and X-Group Restaurants.
This year’s event is from 1 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Charles Wright Academy. Admission is free and bowls start at $10.
