National Night out brings a way to strengthen the bonds between neighbors through music, education and engaging activities. Eatonville residents joined local law enforcement yesterday, Aug. 6 at Glacier Veiw Park for the festivities.
Along with police, special guests included ham radio operators, search and rescue teams, K-9 units and many other units.
“The best way to build a safer community is to know your neighbors and surroundings,” said former U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson on NATW.org.
Similarly, Eatonville is did just this by participating in the like events along with 38 million people and 16 thousand communities across the United States. They joined others in the community in learning about home and car security as well as personal protection. Folks will even had the opportunity to ask local police questions about the neighborhood safety.
Also, Chief Laliberte challenged anyone willing to a competitive game of corn hole. Officer Anderson hosted a bicycle obstacle course for the kid, who also got to enjoy touch-a-truck with fire engines, squad cars and ambulances.
In addition to those activities, there was free food and drinks to enjoy while people got to learn crime prevention tips from Pierce County Emergency Dispatch and Pierce County SWAT. They also were able to enjoy acoustic music while viewing different interactive displays from Eatonville officers.
Ultimately, the festivities began at 6 p.m. and ran until 10 p.m. Participants had the opportunity to get to know their neighbors and protectors in a networking event planned to be positive and impactful, with law enforcement officers and community members.
