Letters to the editor

Dear editor,

I cannot understand how addict Jeremy Simon can possibly run over a law-abiding citizen, killing her then run off and lie about the incident to police, let's start with that.

Now moving forward to find our Pierce County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Arend decided he is a prime candidate for drug offender alternative rehabilitation. Judge Arend decided Susan Rainwater's life meant nothing to her other than an opportunity to rehabilitate an addict. She sentenced Jeremy to 2.5 years in jail and two years on probation while in a drug rehabilitation program.

My problem is with the judicial system in this case and many others like it, would Judge Arend have let me off if it was her son, daughter or significant other run down like a dog?

What about Susan, what about her husband Al Rainwater. How do you replace a life?  Did Jeremy Simon pay for funeral expenses? And what about psychological help for the victims family.

Thanks for nothing Judge Arend, you really care.

Sincerely,

C. Stewart
