Dear editor,
We are writing on behalf of the Mountain Community Co-op Garden to thank our wonderful community for a highly successful rummage sale last weekend at the Methodist Church, which made close to $2,000 to support the continuation of the Community Garden.
From the United Methodist Church to our generous donors, to hard-working helpers, to the many rummage buyers, we want to say this event could not have been a success without you!
The Mountain Community Garden, located below the Van Eaton mansion on property loaned to us by the Van Eaton's, is an organic garden with plots open to the public for rent. Plots are "rented" for the season or for the year, using organic methods for growing. Approximately 80 percent of the garden is planted for the Food Bank at the Eatonville Family Agency to supplement the food bank with fresh organic produce.
Over the past five years, the Mountain Community Garden has donated more than 3,000 pounds of produce to the food bank. The garden also collaborates with Eatonville Elementary School to involve children in how to grow vegetables. On occasion, we present workshops open to anyone on different topics of gardening interests.
Stop by and visit the garden anytime, and please consider joining our group. It takes a village and we have a truly generous, supportive "village" here in Eatonville. Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
The Mountain Community Garden and the Mountain Community Co-op
