Cruisers can’t keep up with the Sentinels

This past Friday night, the 1st place Eatonville Cruiser football took their 2-0 league record to Steilacoom to take on the 1st 2-0 Sentinels in a game that would end up deciding which team would take the Mountain division title.

The Sentinel duo of Chance McDonald (QB) and Taylor Barton (WR) wreaked havoc on the Cruiser defense all night long as Barton would haul in 4 touchdown passes as the Sentinels downed the Cruisers 35-14.

The Cruisers would receive the ball to start the game and would put together a 96-yard drive that would end with quarterback Caden Jumper barreling into the endzone from the 4-yard line for the score. Job Kralik would send the extra point trough the uprights and the Cruisers would lead 7-0.

The Cruiser defense would stand tall on the Sentinels first offensive possession. They would hold Steilacoom at the 5-yard line as the Sentinels would turn the ball over on downs.

Steilacoom would tie the game up at the end of the 1st quarter when quarterback Chance McDonald would find receiver Logan Brady in the front corner of the end zone for a 6-yard score.

On the Cruisers next possession, they would drive all the way to the Sentinel 13. Jumper would then float a pass to the end zone for Zach Smith, but Sentinels Jayden Coalson would intercept Jumper’s pass and return it out of the end zone to the Cruiser 7-yard line.

Three plays later McDonald would find Brady again from 17 yards out to give Steilacoom a 14-7 lead midway through the 2nd quarter.

After a Cruiser punt, the Sentinels would be pinned back on their own 10-yard line and would put together an 80-yard scoring drive. McDonald would find Barton for the third time on the night for a 27-yard scoring strike.

The Cruisers would head into the locker room at halftime down, 21-7.

After both teams turned the ball over via the fumble on the next few possessions., the Sentinels would strike again.

Logan Brady would haul in his fourth touchdown on the night when McDonald hit him from 5 yards out for the score. The Sentinels would extend their lead to 28-7.

The Cruisers would put together another great drive before being stopped at the Sentinel 1-yard line and would turn the ball over.

With the ball on their 1-yard line facing a third and long, McDonald would float a pass down the sideline over the defender into the arms of 5 star recruit junior Emeka Egbuka who would haul it in and race 99 yards for the score to give the Sentinels a 35-7 lead.

The Cruisers would get on the board again after a Kaden Foster interception would set the Cruisers up at their own 36-yard line. They would hit pay dirt for the final time of the night when Jumper would keep the ball on 4th and 1 and scramble 30 yards for the score.

The Sentinels would take the win 35-14 and have taken over sole possession of 1st place in the league.

Eatonville drops into second place in league play with a 2-1 record.

Jumper would finish the night 8 of 14 passing for 122 yards and an interception. On the ground, he would rush the ball 18 times for 151 yards and 2 scores.

Alex Brymer would carry the ball 13 times for 41 yards. Zach Smith would lead all receivers with 3 catches for 51 yards.

The Cruisers now sit in 2nd place with a 2-1 record (4-3 overall) and will face the Fife Trojans this Friday night at home for Homecoming. With a win, the Cruisers will lock up 2nd place in league for the season.
