Aileen Albrecht

Aileen passed away on December 6, 2017 in Newport, WA, just shy of her 92nd birthday.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband Clint; parents Harry and Betty; grandson Robert; great-granddaughter Ayranna; and sisters Lois and Murielle.  She leaves to mourn her passing two children, Marilyn (Doug) and Butch (Tina); three grandchildren, Nita (Ron), Stephanie (Larry), and Michelle; six great-grandchildren, Aidan, Cameron, Jeffrey, Cole, Raena and Fallen; great-great granddaughter Serenitee; and her many dear friends at her church, the LDS wards in Glendale CA, in Buffalo MN, and in Monroe WA.

Aileen was raised on a Midwestern dairy farm, but soon after graduation headed out for the sunny skies of California. It was there she met Clint and they raised their two children. During the 1950s and 60s she worked for the City of Los Angeles, and for the L.A.P.D.

She was proud of the volunteer work she did over the years for the League of Women Voters; PTA; Cub Scouts; Brownies; Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts; Wright County Historical Society and Monroe Historical Society; Buffalo Sr. Citizens’ Club; and the Steam Car Club of America.

Her greatest passion and some of her fondest memories were of the days, long ago, that she and Clint spent traveling old Route 66 in their 1951 Ford, exploring the ghost towns, mining towns, and railroad history of the desert Southwest.  She always claimed she was ‘a true desert rat’.

Aileen was genuine, unique, funny, quirky, interesting, and truly interested in everyone she met. She proudly marched to the beat of a different drummer, and people loved her for it.  She brought a smile, a wry observation, and a silly joke everywhere she went.

She was dearly beloved, and she will be greatly missed. We love you Mom.
