Alice Lorene Sawyer October 13, 1918 GÇô March 24, 2016

Alice Lorene Sawyer passed away on March 24, 2016 at Brookdale Monroe.-á Alice married William A. Sawyer (Bill) in 1942 and they spent most of their 72 years in the Portland area.-á Upon Bill's death, Alice chose to move to Monroe, WA which had been her hometown as a young girl to be near family.-á Alice's year in Monroe was spent enjoying all the holiday celebrations with family, her 97th birthday, lunching with relatives and, thanks to her great-grandnephews, she watched a soccer game, learned about the game of Lacrosse and robotics. The Monroe she knew as a young girl had changed dramatically but there were many sights that were still familiar.-á She so loved the outing to see the Christmas lights, the swifts and the trips to Lake Tye to watch the ducks while she ate a Burger King Whopper Jr. (no onions or cheese). Aunt Alice will be missed by her many nieces and nephews, who are so glad they had this year with her.-á She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Dora Johnson and a sister, Helen (Norman) Hartzell.
