A Memorial Service for Ann J. Pouk was held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Mr. Daryl Wyatt officiating.-á Private family interment will be held at a later date. Anerol Jen+¬ "AnnGÇ¥ Pouk, 76 years of age, of Loomis, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska following a brief illness.-á Ann was born in North Platte, Nebraska on April 7, 1939, the only child born to Lester E. and Lorena M (Thorell) Smith. Ann attended elementary school in Hastings, Nebraska and received her high school diploma from Monroe, Washington. After high school, Ann spent time on the west coast, then moved to Iowa, before returning to Phelps County, where she was united in marriage to Dennis D. Pouk Sr. in 1981. While raising her family in Loomis, Ann worked at Becton-Dickinson, cooked at Loomis Public School, where she loved cooking for the students and finished her career working with special needs children at Head Start in Holdrege. In retirement, Ann loved appreciating the beauty of the plains, spending time outdoors with gardening, sewing, knitting and sharing time with her grandchildren. Ann and Dennis lived in Loomis until her passing. Ann put her faith in Jehovah, attending the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses being very active in the ministry. Her light in everyone's lives will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Dennis Pouk, Sr., of Loomis; seven children: Kevin Foy of Shenandoah, Iowa, Bambi Foy of The Dalles, Oregon, Robert Foy and his wife, Lauren of Holdrege, Stacy Baxter her husband, Mark of Holdrege, Mark Egge and his wife, Shelly of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dennis Pouk, Jr. of Loomis, and Brenda Scritchfield and her husband, Bill of Buffalo, New York; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law: Eldon Pouk and his wife, Carol, Evald Pouk, Carroll Pouk and his wife, Mary all of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Ann's wish for cremation. A memorial has been established in Ann's honor and will be designated at a later date.
