There's only a few weeks of school left, but Monroe High School (MHS) is still as eventful as ever!
While spring sports have come to a close, there are still several other happenings at MHS.
Last week, IMPROV performed on May 20 in the MHS Performing Arts Center. Several students showed off their comedic skills to those who attended.-á
Students from ASB also went to Hidden River Middle School and Park Place Middle School and organized a pep assembly for the eighth-grade students. This idea started a few years ago as a way to show them what Bearcat spirit is all about.-á
This week (May 27- May 29), ASB will host a sports tournament for all MHS students. Students are able to create their own teams to compete in games such as ultimate Frisbee, kick ball and Capture the Flag.
Seniors will also have their awards night on Thursday, May 28, recognizing many of the students for their varied accomplishments throughout high school
In addition to senior awards night, band will also have an awards night on Tuesday, May 26.
As a senior, students are required to do a project called Culminating Challenge. Each student picks a career in which he or she is interested and they are required to do some sort of project for the career with their mentor. In addition, they assemble a binder showing the different steps and stages of the project. On May 28, the last bit of seniors will present their projects, so wish them luck.
Adventure Club will also go to Lake Cushman on its last camping trip. They leave at 1:40 p.m. on Friday, May 29 and return at 5 p.m., Sunday, May 31.
The next week is the last week for MHS seniors, so there is a lot going on. There is a band concert on Tuesday, June 2; a choir concert on Wednesday, June 3; senior dinner on Thursday, June 4; moving-up assembly to say goodbye to seniors on Friday, June 5; and last, but not least, graduation is Saturday, June 6! It is sure to be a packed week.-á
Remember, only eight more school days until seniors graduate (June 6) and 15 school days until all other students' last day (June 16).-á
