Bearcat Beat | Smarter Balanced testing begins

Spring break is over and MHS students are back at it!

The new Smarter Balanced testing for juniors will begin April 21 and 22 with math and then continue April 28 and 29 for English and Language Arts. Regular classes will commence at 11:25 a.m. on those designated days for all students.-á

On April 23 through 25, sports-medicine students will compete against other students in categories like anatomy, CPR, medical terms and taping. The competition will take place in Spokane, Washington.

There are more than 300 students participating in spring sports at MHS. Spring athletes have very busy schedules this upcoming week.-á

Baseball boys will play tomorrow, April 15, against Mariner at Mariner High School at 4 p.m., and April 17 at home at 4 p.m., against Mariner at Marshall Fields.

Softball girls have games today, April 14, against Mariner at Sky River Park at 4 p.m., tomorrow, April 15, against Snohomish at Sky River Park at 4 p.m., and April 17, against Jackson at Jackson High School at 4 p.m.

Boys golf will compete today, April 14, at Harbour Pointe Golf Course at 2 p.m., hosted by Kamiak.-á

Girls golf will compete tomorrow, April 15 at Walter Hall Golf Course at 2 p.m., hosted by Cascade.-á

Girls tennis will have matches today, April 14, against Mount Vernon at Mount Vernon High School at 3:30 p.m. and April 17, against Jackson at Monroe High School at 3:30 p.m..-á

Boys soccer will compete today, April 14, against Jackson at Everett Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m. and April 17, against Cascade at Monroe High School at 7:30 p.m.-á

Track meets are on April 16, against Kamiak at Goddard Stadium at 3:30 p.m., April 18, at the Eason Invitational at Veterans Memorial Stadium at 10 a.m., and April 20 at the all-comers meet at 3:30 p.m.

Before spring break, seniors got their graduation orders, prompting them to look at the countdown until graduation. There are only 38 school days until the Class of 2015 graduates (June 6) and 43 school days until the last day for the rest of Monroe students (June 15).-á
