Big Dog for the win in Best of Western Washington contest

Several members of the Monroe community watched themselves on television Monday night, as Evening Magazine announced the winners of KING 5's annual Best of Western Washington contest.

The Evening Magazine camera crew stopped by Big Dog's Hot Dog Joint on Friday, Nov. 6, to let owner Jerry "Big DogGÇ¥ Dixon know he won for Best Food Truck. Correspondent Michael King and photojournalist Erica Hintergardt spend time interviewing Dixon, trying his inventive, Seahawks-themed hot dogs and learning the history of Big Dog's. The footage was aired during Evening Magazine at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, and all the winners were announced. -á -á

Dixon operates his food truck with Monroe resident Gretchen Unick House, who helps him manage the mobile hot dog business.

Dixon said he was incredibly excited about winning in the Best Food Truck category. Last year, he placed in the top 10. Since then, his truck has earned a lot of widespread recognition for its vibrant, Seahawks-themed d+¬cor.-á -á
