Car theft suspects arrested in Sultan

A man and woman in their mid-20s suspected of stealing five Honda vehicles from different properties around Gold Bar, Sultan and Monroe were arrested last Friday in Sultan.

A sheriff’s deputy recovered one vehicle Friday night on Kellogg Lake Road while responding to a shots-fired complaint, said Police Chief Steve McDonald. Others had been found earlier in the week. Another was found by a deputy while responding to a complaint of a man and woman running from Reese Park, he said.

The Monroe Police Department arrested the woman near the Red Apple shortly after, McDonald said. Officers deployed a K9 unit to find the man, who was arrested in a building near the Sultan Bakery with the assistance of Sultan officers, he said.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe Police Department and Sultan Police Department had been tracking the couple for around a week, McDonald said. They have only been tied conclusively to one vehicle so far, he said.

Both were taken into custody on warrants, and police are trying to tie the couple to the rest of the stolen vehicles, McDonald said, adding some have been recovered.

The case remains under investigation.
