Both local chambers of commerce, the Monroe Chamber and the Sky Valley Chamber, have planned candidate forums in coming days.
The Monroe Chamber invites the public to attend a political candidates' forum on Tuesday, Oct. 8, during its monthly membership luncheon at the Rock Church.

State Senator Kirk Pearson will moderate the forum, presenting questions prepared by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Candidates will introduce themselves to the audience, then each will respond to a series of two questions specific to their contest.
Expected to appear are:
Snohomish County Council District 5 candidates Chris Vallo and Dave Somers; City of Monroe mayoral candidates Geoffrey Thomas and Ed Davis; City of Monroe Council Position 1 candidates Brad Wadell and Kevin Hanford; City of Monroe Council Position 2 candidate Patsy Cudaback; City of Monroe Council Position 3 candidates Jeff Rasmussen and Mike Stanger and City of Monroe Council at-Large candidates Daniel Williams and Kurt Goering.
The event is open to the public, and will proceed as follows:
Networking, buffet lunch service and table seating in the auditorium begins at 11:30 a.m.
Chamber announcements begin in the auditorium at 12 p.m.
Candidates' forum begins at 12:20 p.m. in the auditorium and will conclude about 2:15 p.m.
Paid lunch reservations are required and cost $16 per person. Reservations and payment accepted until Monday, Oct. 7 at 12 p.m. Contact the Monroe Chamber of Commerce at (360) 794-5488 to arrange payment.
A coffee service will be available for a $2 donation for those wishing to sit in on the forum in the general seating area at the rear of the Rock Church auditorium.
The Rock Church of Monroe is located at 16891 146th St. S.E., Monroe.
On Thursday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m. the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Snohomish County League of Women Voters will sponsor a candidate forum for the positions of Sultan City Council, Gold Bar City Council, Gold Bar Mayor, and Snohomish County Council #5.
The forum will be held at the Sultan High School Commons, 13715 310th Ave. S.E. in Sultan.
Candidates will make brief statements and there will be an opportunity for audience questions.
